Abstract
Congestion causes poor traffic performance and negative impact on economic productivity and environmental quality. Article presents a research result concerning the recent traffic’s fuel consumption character in congested network, in terms of geometric and traffic. Survey is conducted in Bandung, representing the congested city in Indonesia. Research indicated that during last 9 years since TRRL (1999), average travel speed has been decreasing more than 40 percent. The analysis was developed utilizing 3 methods: driving cycle’s principle, Greenwood’s noise acceleration, and hydrodynamics traffic model. Vehicles tested using commercial and private vehicles, using gasoline and diesel, and various engine cylinders. The output of research gives contribution for understanding behavior of fuel consumption, from then the alternative to reduce oil consumption would be developed.
