Abstract

Nowdays, LLDPE waste is contributing to worldwide environmental problems, and hence mod$cation of LLDPE to biodegradable material is desirable. Several data indicated that the presence of hydrolyzable and oxidezable functional group in main chain of synthetic polymer are apparent to be essential for biodegradation. In this research films of Himrem Technology1 were exposed to W light, for increasing times to create several functional groups in LLDPE main chain. Inzared analysis was used to detect the degradation products and the carbonyl index was related to the photooxidation products. The changes in mechanical properties due to the chemical degradation were followed by determining stress-strain curves offilms to W light for increasing. This research indicated a relationship between the development offinctional group and the change ofphysicalproperties.
